Cable Companies Locking out 3rd Party DVRs Digg this.

It started on only a few select stations but it has grown into a much bigger problem as of late. Cable companies are abusing a analog protection known as “CGMS-A” and using the “copy-never” flag to lock out 3rd party DVRs such as Tivo and Windows Media Center from being able to operate properly while they ignore these flags in their own DVRs.
